IAN PARRY'S CONSORTIUM PROJECT

"Ian Parry's Consortium Project" (InsideOut Music America)

Ian Parry's Consortium Project is a as well thought out, well performed and -well produced a recording as I have heard in a while. Sadly, there in itself lies some of the problems I had with this CD.

At first listen, I really liked the CD first three tracks. But as the recording progressed, I found that all the music sounded basically the same.

All 11 musicians are highly trained professionals and they belt out the tunes nicely. Unfortunately, this music lacks emotional range and, frankly, was too 80's for me. Musical prowess counts for something, however, so I'll give Ian Parry's Consortium Project a well deserved 2½ chain saws.

Rating Guide:

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
