THE OBSESSED

"Incarnate" (Southern Lord; 2004)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

In the annals of stoner rock, few musicians enjoy the respect given to Wino, and  - thanks to the kind folks at Southern Lord - we can see why. The Obsessed's "Incarnate" CD is the long-awaited re-release of Wino's most infamous outfit, The Obsessed, and quite possibly his finest work.

Spanning the band's brief but influential history, this 18-track collection ties up all of the loose ends that came along with The Obsessed being a band way ahead of its time. The disc dually succeeds by digging through the archives and bringing some lesser known works to light as well as putting it all into a comprehensive package.

For a one-stop lesson on this highly regarded outfit, look no further than Incarnate.
