THE NUDE
"Stand and Be Recognized"
(Royal Saffron; 2024)

The Nude's "Stand and Be Recognized" has a rough and loose sound that gives it a solid rock'n'roll edge. Heavy with walls of guitar sound, fast rhythms and very unique but strong vocals, the album doesn't slow down at all until track five (when it really slows down). "Damned," is pretty much nothing more than a slow piano melody, emotional vocals and an ethereal guitar sound near the end. It's kinda weird, actually. Track six starts out the same way but then builds to a roaring crescendo that returns to the initial few tracks' power.
Track seven, "Victim's Plight," has a stoner vibe, despite the fact that the tune speeds up considerably, slows down again, and closes with a crushing finale. At over seven minutes, this is one of the standout tracks on the album. The last track, "Leather Boots," is a solid rocker, closing out the album with a bang.
I don't know how listeners may react to "Stand and Be Recognized." It's a unique rock'n'roll album, with a singular sound that is at times familiar and quite distinctive at others. But it's certainly worth a listen.
