NODES OF RANVIER

"Defined by Struggle" (Victory; 2007)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

The musical pride of South Dakota, Nodes of Ranvier have streamlined their aggression on the 11-track "Defined by Struggle" to a point where they no longer shine as bright as once before.

While the outfit's overall heaviness factor sees a sharp rise, with tracks like "Seargant Sorrow" and "Endless Faith" punching holes in your speakers without remorse, the monotony of the samey yet utterly face-ripping metalcore on tracks like "Infidelity" and the title cut gives off the dreaded been-there, done-that vibe currently plaguing a good number of bands in the genre, making this listening experience rather pedestrian for those solely not obsessed with pit dance moves. www.victoryrecords.com  -Mike SOS

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
