NEW BORN AUTHORITY
"New Born Authority" (Self-released; 2014)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
This self-titled album by New Born Authority is pleasant melodic punk that manages to pack a punch -- albeit it a more gentle punch than, say the Ramones or the Sex Pistols (bands not known for being so melodic).
The band and the CD remind me a bit of Rancid or the Dropkick Murphys, but a little less bite than either of those bands. It's a good, fast, light listen and its raw, free-form production adds a much-needed edge. When the band kicks it up a notch, the album shines a little brighter.
