NEPHASTH
"Immortal Unholy Triumph" (WWIII/Mercenary Musik)
Reviewed by Rose Grech
Nephasth is a Brazilian death metal band that is ultra fast, tight and
brutal. "Immortal Unholy Triumph" possesses 10 songs that provide all the elements a death metal fan desires in a band.
The band formed as Interior Soul in Brazil in April 1997. In late 1999 the band decided to change their
name to Nephasth.
Their second demo, entitled "The Merciless Face of Evil" features fresh and unbelievably brutal
death metal with some notable Morbid Angel and Slayer influences. The tracks from the "The
Merciless Face of Evil" were also featured on Relapse Records' Brazilian Assault, released in early
2001.
Nephasth continues to stick to their musical influences' style and creates true death metal music. I
could hardly notice the difference between Brazilian death metal and American. So many American
death metal fans will probably welcome and enjoy this band.
