MIKE NESS
"Cheating at Solitaire" (Time Bomb Recordings)
Reviewed by Pud
Mike Ness, the leader of Social Distortion (the second best punk band ever - God bless the Ramones!) has released his first solo effort with 15 songs that are in the country/rockabilly mold yet keep a punk rock feel.
Listen to me people, 'cuz I'm only gonna say it once: This fuckin' album is easily one of the best albums ever. Feel like shit? Want to feel worse? Then this is for you, man.
Ness has a very cool way of putting how he feels into songs. He doesn't do it poetically, he does it matter-of-factly. If he feels like shit, he says "I feel like shit."
Bruce Springsteen and Brian Setzer guest star on a couple tunes too.
This CD is a fucking classic.
Rating Guide:

So-so. You've heard better.
Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.
Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
