MINDSET
"A Bullet for Cinderella" (Noise Records)
Reviewed by Snidermann
Mindset is jagged edged rock'n'roll with an attitude to match. To be honest, I had a hard time understanding this CD, but it didn't matter: I sure liked it. The music rips forth with a raw energy that is almost alive. It explodes from the speakers in a shower of fiery sparks and an intensity that is dangerous enough to be outlawed.
The lyrics paint a slightly irregular - make that somewhat twisted - version of reality. Perhaps the band's press release says it best: "(Mindset) entered a rehearsal studio with the foundations for a new album - thick on the guitar riffs, melodic vocals and the attitude of 'fuck you, we'll do it our way.'" Another quote from the presskit: "'A Bullet for Cinderella' is a great big middle finger to anyone who follows trends." Gotta love that.
The best song on the CD is their salute to talk shows called "Die, Ricki, Die" (you can guess what that one is about). For more info, e-mail the band at Mindset@hotbox.com or check out their website at www.bandpages.com/mindset.
Mindset is Roddy Jane, vocals; John O'Neil, bass; John Smallwood, guitar, vocals; Kenny Windley, drums.

So-so. You've heard better.
Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.
Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
