MALIGNANCY

"Cross Species Transmutation" (Crash; 2003)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

New York's Malignancy returns with a bold concept straight from the science fiction pages with its seven-track "Cross Species Transmutation." As if the album artwork isn't disturbing enough, the band's technically sound grind metal and guttural vocalizations should be the clincher, as this gruesome quartet sing about the benefits of such good things as crossbreeding pigs with humans, all set to a dastardly death metal backdrop.

Oh, those crazy death metallers, what will they think of next?
