LOKNUT
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Loknut is a tough nut to crack. It's all solid but very raw heavy metal with pounding rhythms, growling vocals and heavy, throbbing guitars with effective, if not blistering, leads.
Thinking of a band to compare them to is difficult, and that's a good thing. Loknut is very original. Some of the songs sound almost hardcore, then others nearly venture into Iron Maiden territory. In a sense they remind me of Dog Fashion Disco - not that they sound anything alike - but Dog Fashion Disco has a way of creating music that is different than anything you've heard before yet still familiar. Loknut does the same thing while staying much heavier than DFD. In other words, Loknut never ventures from their heavy metal roots but they still manage to sound different than the other bands out there.
If you bump into Loknut somewhere in your journeys (both online and in reality), check them out. I think you'll find it a unique experience.
Loknut: Sean - drums; Carl - guitars; Dave - vocals; Erik - bass.
