LIVING HELL
"The Lost and the Damned" (Revolution; 2007)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Living Hell's "The Lost and the Damned" is an awesomely aggressive combination of metal and hardcore (but don't call it metalcore). The guitars are thick and chugging, the vocals have that hardcore edge to them but don't get too outrageous, the songs are expertly written and easy to get into and the production brings everything into thundering clarity.
But it all comes back to the guitars for this band. They are crushing and edgy and pummel you into listening. If that chainsaw buzz of electric guitar is the sound you're looking for, look no further than "The Lost and the Damned."
Living Hell: Craig Mack - vocals; Jack LaBarca - drums; Seann McKay - guitar; Dan Sullivan - guitar; Jim Volinski - bass.
