LEDYARD
"Demo 2007" (Self-produced; 2007)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Ledyard's three track demo reminds me a lot of Black Label Society's rough and raging sound ... and that's a good thing. With blistering guitars, a devastating rhythm section and and a gravel-voiced vocalist, this CD will kick your ass from beginning to end with its crushing wall of sound.
All three tracks here ("Sky Burns Red," "Desperate Man" and "Suicide Sister") are killer, heavy tracks that are surprisingly well-produced for a demo. The vocals aren't buried in the mix (as happens with too many demos) and the lead guitar is crisp (and shines!) throughout.
The only thing that remains to be seen with this band is whether they can maintain this level of quality on a full-length release. Personally, I can't wait to find out.
Ledyard: Johnny Palmer; Chris Pallatto; Brian "Slider" Azzoto; Steve Russell; James Lyons.
