LABRAT

"Ruining It For Everyone" (Century Media; 2003)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

Labrat is one of those bands that you back away from very carefully, fearing that they may explode at any moment, and - judging by this quartet's latest batch of tunes - that's a genuine concern.

As much experimental as extreme, Labrat's sonic assault is bound to leave you drained, as the band's blend of metal incorporates grind, punk, death, and thrash. Evoking the sheer power of bands like Napalm Death, Lamb of God, and The Haunted, this London-based outfit is indeed ruining it for everyone.

Some bands claim to be extreme; Labrat takes it up a notch by running with the metal torch and setting everything in its path ablaze.
