KILLINGBIRD
"Killingbird" (2KSounds/EMI; 2002)
Reviewed by Snidermann
Killingbird is a guitar-heavy metal/punk band with a unique music blend that is very refreshing and sharp. The vocal style is hard, raw and frankly takes some getting used to. Imagine Marilyn Manson crossed with Axl Rose and you'll see what I mean.
It took a few spins for me to get into the unique vibe of this CD. After a number of listens, I've decided I like it. But I have the feeling that could change with a few more listens. I don't really know why.
The music is simple and dark and leans more toward Guns'n'Roses-era metal than punk, but it's all rock'n'roll.
Good music with better than average lyrics and total heart makes Killingbird worth a listen. Particularly worth noting is their razor-sharp cover of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven."
Killingbird: Christian - vocals; Skyla - guitars; August - guitars; Gaz - bass; Marc - drums.
