KILLER BE KILLED

"Killer Be Killed" (Nuclear Blast Records; 2014)

Reviewed by Jeff Rogers

This is the début of Killer Be Killed and what a way to start out of the gates of metal! Deemed a 'super-group' because of its members -- Mastodon’s Troy Sanders, The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato, Soulfly/Cavalera Conspiracy/Sepultura's Max Cavalera and drummer Dave Elitch, who smashed sticks in The Mars Volta -- this is a powerhouse of anger and aggression. Best dull up your elbows and knees 'cause you're going down!

The second track, "Face Down" sports the line, "Killer Be Killed." Now you know where the name came from. With the aforementioned heavy hitters in this beast of a band you'll get plenty of groove metal, hardcore punk and thrash. It's the trifecta of metal! The drums just destroy on this disc. It's eleven hellacious tracks and if you've got the taste for this on vinyl then you'll get an extra track to 'groove' on. The vocals are monstrous, with plenty of power and lots of harmonizing. You'll dig the sounds of Greg, Max and Troy: another trifecta!

Killer Be Killed start with power and somehow amp it up higher and higher with each cut. The music is like a stomping devil who's got a hankering for some tasty souls.
