KENOS
"The Craving" (Lucretia; 2007)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Kenos' "The Craving" is modern metalcore with a progressive atmosphere. It's an interesting combination that will keep you guessing throughout most of the CD.
The vocals growl with death metal aggressiveness while the music, though fast and furious, boasts a slight progressive edge that tends to make the entire CD accessible to more than just fans of the death metal genre. It's a unique combination that takes a little getting used to but, for the most part, it works.
True, the CD could use a little more variety and the couple of "ballad"-type songs here just seem wildly out of place. Overall, however, "The Craving" is worth a listen.
Kenos: Alessio Giudice - Vocals; Domenico Conte - Rhythm and lead guitar; Jaco Pisciotta - Lead guitar; Marcello Fachin - Bass; Sergio Gasparini - Drums and percussion.
