KALOPSIA

"Amongst the Ruins" (Godeater; 2012)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

Kalopsia doles out dastardly dollops of groove-laden death metal on their eight-track excursion, "Amongst the Ruins."

Chock full of slamming breakdowns, blistering guitars, and blast beat drumming, this unit discovers the middle ground between Deicide and Dying Fetus and runs listeners over with the depraved results.

This New Jersey quartet’s first album in nearly eight years pounds craniums with a dependable combination of churning riffs, expedient percussive passages and belligerent bellowing (“Pillars of Ash”) crafted with the death metal fan in mind.
