JULY FOR KINGS
Reviewed by Snidermann
July For Kings have a cool, unique style that I enjoyed from the very first track. Their music is deep and sophisticated and the lyrics are intense, personal ... and intensely personal.
"Swim" was an unexpected treat to listen to, despite the fact that it is definitely not heavy metal - however, it is is good solid rock'n'roll. July for Kings writes thought-provoking songs that have been on my A-list rotation since the CD hit my in box and I find myself anxiously looking forward to the next spin. Sometimes, I realize I'm singing these songs at work - to me, that's the sign of a really good band.
The best thing about July for Kings is they play totally cool rock'n'roll while not sounding anything like Counting Crows, Nickelback, Shades Apart and any number of the musical clones out there today.
The CD also contains bonus material on the enchanced CD. July For Kings is really worth a look ... and listen.
July For Kings: Joe Hedges - vocals and guitar; T Miller - cello, guitar and vocals; Travis Delancy - guitar; Jason Morgan - bass; Sam Dobrozsi - drums.
