JET CIRCUS

"Look at Death Now" (Elektra; 2003)

Reviewed by Snidermann

I just want to know what the hell Jet Circus and their release "Look At Death Now" are trying to convey. The band has no clear style throughout the entire CD. When they rock, they sound great. The next minute, however, the listener is subjected to an extremely mushy AM radio type love song -- way too sick for me.

Some of this may have to do with the fact that this is the band's first new CD since 1991. Some of it may have to do with the fact that it's probably more of a solo project by guitarist EZ Gomer.

Regardless, when I finally went to the Internet to look up some information on the band, I discovered they are a Christian rock band. That's okay with me if the music is good and consistent, but here it is decidedly not.

"Look at Death Now" is good, but not great. The CD kicks complete ass when the music is loud and hard, but when the music slows down, it drives a stake through the heart of the entire project.
