JAR'D LOOSE

"Turns 13" (The Path Less Traveled Records; 2014)

Reviewed by Jeff Rogers

Jar'd Loose are grunge. Yeah, grunge. I know, I know: check the release year. It's 2014, I thought that stuff died out. Well, even if it's not readily played on the radio anymore, you can still get a dose of it via Jar'd Loose. The riffs are angry, and you'll hear a depressed tone from the bass as well. The only problem is the vocals, they don't match the music. It's a lot of yelling, there isn't any singing, so parlaying a depressing mood from the singer isn't going to happen.

It sounds good when it starts up but then it just starts to repeat. There isn't anything fresh or new here and the originality doesn't ever burst through. If you just have to hear more you can head over to their Bandcamp page and stream their 2012 disc "Goes To Purgatory."

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
