IRON WINGS
"Ritual of Rage" (Independent; 2022)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
"Ritual of Rage," by Iron Wings, is one of the most aptly named albums of the year.
This raging thrash-fest starts off with the disarming instrumental, "Revelation Overture," and then explodes into the fast-and-furious "Apathy" which, if you don't brace yourself, could break your neck. "Ritual of Rage" only occasionally slows down from that point on, delivering (for the most part) hard-driving guitar, throbbing bass and insane drums. It's an engrossing listen from beginning to end that sucks you in at once and doesn't let you go until the end.
My favorite tracks were the above-mentioned "Apathy," the soaring "Angel" and the epic closer "Devil's Lullaby." But there isn't a bad track to be found here. No filler, no ballads, just pure, aggressive rock'n'roll from the first track to the last.
If you're looking to band your head right the fuck off, "Ritual of Rage" is the soundtrack to do it to.
