IRONWEED

"Your World of Tomorrow" (Small Stone Records; 2011)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

You certainly get your money’s worth with Ironweed's "Your World of Tomorrow." The music hits you like the proverbial wall of sound from the beginning to the end. There's hardly a break from the first track to the last. It all rocks solidly and straight through.

The songs here aren’t your typical heavy metal, a la Judas Priest or Iron Maiden, but probably more along the lines of heavy alternative ... Porno for Pyros comes to mind, although Ironweed is nowhere as alternative as that band.

This is a very unique, very interesting album by a obviously talented band. It's difficult to describe what you hear on "Your World of Tomorrow," but it’s hard and heavy without being chaotic and out of control. Very listenable, with fast-paced songs throughout and tracks that hit you like a ton of bricks. With enough hooks to bring you back again but not so many that it seems slick and predictable.
