HOURCAST

"State of Disgrace" (Alkamedia Records; 2006)

Reviewed by Snidermann

I really like what Hourcast does musically. "State of Disgrace" is raw and full of energy and fire. Another thing I liked about this CD is the band's ability to sound like they are having fun and that is something I always like to hear.

As for the negative side, the vocals are soft and mushy and the lyrics are depressing. It's far too emo for me. As I have said here before, and I will say again, songs about depressing subjects may be beneficial for the band member and to others in those situations, but it's just a drag to listen to sometimes. If the subject matter were little lighter here, I would give "State of Disgrace" a higher score.
