HOLDING ON

"Question What You Live For" (Bridge Nine; 2002)

Reviewed by Snidermann

I like aggression in my music as well as the next guy. With Holding On, however, aggression is apparently the only emotion they wish to project. This CD yells and screams and shakes it fist from beginning to end and, eventually, it tends to get a little dull.

The music is often decent and sometimes even borders on unique - but the constant level of rage and one-dimensional vocals wind up with one song sounding too much like the last.

Holding On are a good band at the core, but they need to vary their emotional sound a bit in order for their songs to separate themselves from one another and stand up on their own.

Rating Guide:

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
