HINDER

"Take it to the Limit" (Universal Motown Records Group; 2008)

Reviewed by Jeff Rogers

Hinder are from Oklahoma City ... Oklahoma, my birthplace. I'll champion them for that but their bass player, Mike Rodden, went to Putnam City North High School and I went to PC West so we're natural rivals, even as alumni.

When their first single ("Lips Of An Angel" from "Extreme Behavior") hit the radio I was prompted by a certain female in my family to purchase the single. I did so to appease the request since it was a ballad. This disc is more glam metal than their first disc and that's all right because they do it right.

When these guys rock the guitar is full force and the solos are tight. They still have a hard rock sound with some ballads in between, but even those have a tough sound. Though the music is good the lyrics aren’t that deep, they are mostly about chicks and relationships, surface stuff. Mick Mars from Motley Crue helps out on the track "Take It To The Limit."

Hinder: Austin Winkler: Vocals; Joe "Blower" Garvey: Guitar; Mark King: Guitar; Mike Rodden: Bass; Cody Hanson: Drums.
