GOODNESS
Reviewed by Snidermann
Immortal/Epic recording artists Goodness, were a huge surprise. When I first listened to this CD, I was ready to hate it. But after a few spins I decided I really liked it. Carrie Akre has a haunting vocal style that is not overdone; it's very rich and more than a little sassy. And the musicians behind her are strong and talented.
As good as the band is, it is really Carrie Akre's vocal style and song-writing ability that stands out. It's easy to get caught up in the story and forget your troubles for a while.
There is nothing fancy about this CD - just down to earth rock music that is good for the soul (I know it helped mine). Akre's voice is full of sex appeal and is hard to describe and even harder to ignore. Of course, some songs are better than others (some could, and should, receive radio airplay) and, sadly, some are just plain bad. As I mentioned, however, I found myself really getting into this group in the long run. Also, if I were voting for Best Female Rock Vocalist, Carrie Akre would have my vote.
GOODNESS IS: Carrie Akre on vocals; Danny Newcomb on guitars; Gath Reeves on guitars; Fiia McGann on bass and backup vocals and Christ Friel on drums.

So-so. You've heard better.
Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.
Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
