GENERICA

"Motions of Theory" (Self-Produced)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

The cleverly named Generica are a Philadelphian quartet who mix crushing riffs, disjointed vocal lines, and pummeling rhythms on this four-song sampler. With dashes of samples strewn about, Generica mixes the subtle nuances of Deftones and Filter with a post-hardcore flare, making this band sound like a cross between an extremely heavy outfit and a savvy indie rock band.

Smart song composition places Generica head and shoulders above your usual band of noiseniks but when the time comes to get down and dirty, Generica has the firepower to overwhelm, too.

Looking for some brains and brawn? Look no further than Generica.
