FREEDOM CALL

"Dimensions" (SPV; 2007)

Reviewed by the Mike SOS

German power metal troupe Freedom Call have got it all in place, from the spoken word intro to the big, galloping, arena rock anthems such as "My Dying Paradise" on their 12-track "Dimensions."

Not in the least bit bashful to unleash the histrionic hard rock vocals, the tug at the heartstrings balladeering and the plethora of uplifting Manowar-esque choruses on cuts like "United Alliance" (where the band proclaims that "metal is a religion"), this is some meat and potato power metal for sure, armed with a noticeable side order of cheese on top for added enjoyment to anyone who likes their metal a tad on the grandiose side.
