"Venting" (Rock Ridge; 2002)

Reviewed by Snidermann

When a CD is entitled "Venting," you expect it to be emotional. And this one is. It took all of one spin to get that point.

The subject matter here is rich and well done. Throughout the ages, heartache has been an excellent inspiration for musical creation and it always will be. That being said, I like "Venting" a lot but I'd like a little more variety, please.

Musically, "Venting" is modern without being too alternative and the CD moves at a rapid pace. They sound a little like Disturbed at times, a little like Flaw more often. Of course, Ivan and Chris from Flaw are in this band, too, so that may explain that.

My only advice to Five.Bolt.Main would be to lighten up a little and try to write something fun once in awhile.
