FIRSTBORNE
"Lucky" (M-Theory Audio;
2025)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Firstborne's "Lucky" is a breath of fresh air. A hard rock album with solid performances, well-written songs and crisp, clean production. Think of it as amped-up classic rock. It's got those catchy riffs and melodies but delivers them with much more power than your typical radio-friendly tracks.
This should come as no surprise once you consider the band's line-up. You've got Girish Pradhan delivering the strong-throated vocals, Chris Adler (Lamb of God/Megadeth) on drums and guitarist Myrone hammering down the thick sound here.
Stand out tracks here include the opening track, "Again," which sets the stage for the rest of the album; the writhing "Wake Up," with its brain-twisting riff and the driving closer, "Minefield," which leaves you wanting more.
This is the kind of album that only gets better upon repeat listens, and I've only listened through twice. That being said, I look forward to burying myself in this album some more.
