FAR
"Water & Solutions" (Immortal/Epic; 1998)

"Water & Solutions" is a mixture of thought-provoking lyrics and down-to-earth rock'n'roll. This recording is loaded with an equal portion of ballads and rock tunes. Sometimes, while listening to this recording, I wished the band would either do all ballads or all hard rock tunes. I found it hard to get a feel for the music: just when I thought I had this band pegged, they would change their style. They'd do better to stick to one format and, based on the singer's style, the hard format would fit this band more than light rock.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this CD. The words and music flowed together to form a multi-layered storyline that I really liked. This band has all their marbles in the right bag and I think that once they get their sound established and with the help of Helmet producer D. Sardy and Epic Records, Far will go far (please excuse the pun). In fact, I gave them an additional half chainsaw just for pure effort.
Far is comprised of Jonah Matranga - vocals, Shaun Lopez - guitar, John Gutenberger - bass, Chris Robyn - drums.

So-so. You've heard better.
Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.
Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
