FANGBOY AND THE GHOULS

"Welcome to the Chamber of Thrills" (Dirt Poor Productions; 1997)

Fangboy and the Ghouls are obviously big fans of the Misfits and I'm not just saying that because one of them is wearing a Misfits t-shirt on the back of the CD.

Most of the songs on this CD are all firmly planted in the horror department, bearing titles such as "They Crawl," "Loup Garou," "Orgy of the Dead" and "Frankie's Dead." Then there are others, such as "Master's Touch," which is apparently all about masturbation. The music is raw and edgy punk of various rhythms with a little Goth gossamer tossed on for atmosphere. The vocals are similar to Danzig's but somewhat more dimensional. The production could use a little work but this CD is self-produced and I've heard much, much worse.

Fans of the Misfits (both Danzig and post-Danzig incarnations) will find something to like here.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
