EXCALION

"Primal Exhale" (Sound Riot; 2005)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Melodic metal has sure wedged its way into my musical thinking lately. There seems to be more bands than ever focusing on that genre recently and most of them have been pretty good.

Add Excalion to the list, with their terrific "Primal Exhale." The combination here of high quality music, great musicianship and killer storytelling ability has put this band high on my list of really cool bands.

This Finnish band has a way of putting together a story that is unlike anything I have heard in a quite some time. I liked this CD from the very first track and I have spun it three times just prior to writing this review - I wanted to make sure "Primal Exhale" was as good as I thought. It was even better.
