EVOL WALKS
"Our Time Is Now" (Evol Walks; 2019)

KLOS, a radio station out of Los Angeles, has a contest once a week: They play two tracks by a local band and then the disk jockeys and the listening public grade them on whether they should get out of the business or keep going. I was listening to one of these contests one day and I heard this band called Evol Walks ... and I was totally transfixed. I have been reviewing music for decades and rarely, if ever, does a track affect me in the way this one did. I only thought two words: "Holy Crap!"
Fast forward three weeks later and this reviewer signs up for a streaming music service and can listen to just about any music ever made. After the initial exploration as to just what I could find, I looked up Evol Walks (what a great name, easy to spell and remember!). The name of the recording is "Our Time Is Now" and I could not agree more. If you want a taste of this killer recording, check out their YouTube presence and you, like me will become a fan.
I have to admit, after listening to the entire release and as much as I really loved the music, I did notice a distinctive lack of originality the further I listened to the recording. Now that, in my opinion, is not necessarily a bad thing. It justed needed the right producer and recording company backing. Regardless, Evol Walks is one great band with a bright furture.
This Australian band (transplanted to Los Angeles) is Leah Martin-Brown on vocals (not only can she sing, she's also a knock-out), Jimmy Lee on drums, CJ Tywoniak on lead guitar and Dre DiMura on rhythm guitar.
