"Megalomanium II" (Frontiers New Recordings; 2024)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

I haven't heard last year's "Megalomanium" but, after listening to "Megalomanium II," you can be damn sure I'm going to go back and give it a listen.

"Megalomanium II" is eleven tracks of energetic, dynamic hard rock that just draws you into it from the very first track. The proud, loud guitars, the striking vocals, the driving rhythm section; they all come together to deliver track after track of bright solid walls of sound. The lyrics are impressive throughout, too, especially on "Still My Hero," a tribute to a bandmember's father, who passed away over a decade ago and still influences his life to this very day.

My favorite tracks are the aforementioned "Still My Hero," the driving "Dived & Conquer" and the sprawling epic, "One in a Million," which closes out the album with a bang.

I have to admit, I was stunned when I discovered that "Megalomanium II" is the first Eclipse album we've reviewed here at RoughEdge.com. The band's been around for quite some time and, based on this album along, they've deserved our attention. Don't make the same mistake we did. Discover Eclipse for yourself now.
