EAT MY PIE
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Eat My Pie is an interesting combination of hard rock riffs and punk rock vocals. This three song EP gives the listener an idea of where the band might have gone if they hadn't split up sometime after its release. (Actually, "morphed into another band" might be a better description. Eat My Pie is now listed as Little Morphine Annie on their website, and features a different line-up).
Track 1, "Ripped Stripped and Torn" is pretty basic, but solid, rock / metal riffs brought to a different level with the addition of the very punk like vocals of Valerie. Valerie sounds like a combination of a punkier Doro Pesch combined with the women of Phantom Blue.
Track 2, "Come Unglued," features almost Sabbath-like monster riffs with Valerie's vocals sounding truly pained here. When she sings, "Why do you want to hurt me?" the listener can feel her wailing pain.
Track 3, "Eat My Pie," is a kinky sex rocker with a single-entendre chorus and an impressive guitar solo that stands apart from the previous two songs.
All three songs work just fine but are probably not metal enough or punk enough to please fans of either genre.
Eat My Pie: David Palmer - bass; Valerie - lead vocals; Heather the Red - drums, vocals; Everett Newton "The Rock'n'Roll Attorney" - guitars, vocals.
