SIMON DANIELS
"Human Being" (Labyrinth; 1998)
Reviewed by Snidermann
"Human Being" is a collection of tunes produced, written, arranged and performed in their entirety by Simon Daniels. Daniels bears his heart and soul in this autobiographical release, using his real life experiences and transferring them to song.
Perhaps because of that, I found this CD to be a little too deep and depressing - too much so to be completely enjoyable. Daniels' musicianship, especially guitar, is excellent, but ultimately the things he's learned about life aren't all that interesting and any song on this CD that isn't guitar driven is just plain boring.
