MARK DALY
"Devil's Arms" (One Opportunity Records; 2024)
Reviewed by Snidermann
The name of the artist on this recording is Mark Daly but apparently when the band plays live it is Mark Daly and The Ravens. Whichever it is, this shit rocks. The name of the recording is "Devil's Arms."
The first few songs of this release are about being broken-hearted and, from the anguish in these songs, someone done this dude wrong, big time. I have never ever felt heartbreak like that, thank goodness. Mark is from Ireland and he plays a gritty, hard, heart felt and upbeat (sometimes, there are slower songs that ripped my heart out) with gusto and style. Right up front you are singing the chorus right along with him.
I suggest you go to www.markdalyofficial.com and check out some of his music. There is a video there called "Better Off Alone" and you'll get a feel (a distinct feel) for where this guy's coming from. Whatever song this dude is singing, he leaves his heart on his sleeve and you can feel each and every painful thing he is singing about.
I can only say that putting out this recording is probably about the same cost as a therapist; however, this sounds like it was more fun and the listener can (and will) experience it with him. There are a few other recordings by this artist that I am going to check out. I have to say, Mark Daly must be a dynamite live performance. Good solid rock and roll that should be experienced.
