DREAM STEEL

"You" (My Kingdom; 2007)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Symphonic rock or power metal, whatever you want to call it, Dream Steel has it. Whatever that certain something is that distinguishes it from other forms of music, this band has it in spades.

The quality of the music on "You" is measured in the musical ranges and the images that the band puts forth with what seems like little effort. I have listened to this recording a least four times and each time I find something new that I like. Not only does this band use the usual rock instruments, but the use of keyboards just adds a dimension that reminds me of a rock opera that should be played out on stage with sets, characters and an orchestra pit.

Each tune is a finely crafted mini storyline with all the plot and sub plots that any good story has.

This Italian band provides a highly energized performance that has all the makings of greatness.

I see from their My Space page that they have a few demos available and I will have to check them out. If they are just a percentage of what this recording is, it will be worth the effort in finding them.

Dream Steel: Alessandro Antonelli - Vocals; Daniele Mazzanti – Guitars; Matteo Vellucci – Drums; Diego Testa – Bass; Marco Zichittella – Keys.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
