DIAMOND ALICE

"Diamond Alice" (Independent; 2024)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Diamond Alice's self-titled album is nine throwback tracks from the glam/sleaze era (okay, maybe eight; track nine doesn't really count) when bands like W.A.S.P., Skid Row, Dangerous Toys and Spread Eagle were at their most popular. It's just over thirty minutes of greasy guitar, singalong melodies and fist-pumping rock'n'nroll. It's pure nostalgia in a digital form and, if you're like me, you'll be searching for and recognizing the band's influences, from the previously mentioned bands to rockers like Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Ratt, and more.

I really like the way the album opener, "Get Kissed By the Twist," starts the record like it's already been playing on your stereo for the past half hour or so, and tracks like the Alice Cooper-like "Undead" and the unapologetically pure rock anthem, "Feel the Rock" are highlights as well.

If you're a fan of this era of rock'n'roll, I think you'll love "Diamond Alice."

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
