DEATHSQUAD DEMONGODS

"Everybody's Favorite Guy" (FatCat Radio Network; 2011)

Reviewed by Jeff Rogers

I first learned about Deathsquad Demongods when I downloaded Stevie Peavey's podcast "Heavy Metal War Stories" from iTunes. Then I found him on Facebook; not much to it, just a few clicks, but Stevie Peavey works way harder than I do! His band Deathsquad Demongods (which just rolls off the tongue by the way) is a band that lives for the music that created metal. They even have a song titled "Judas Priest"!

This band combines the sounds of several musical acts to make a complete band that offers punk, metal and hard rock music. There are just four songs on this EP and each one has great lyrics, sweet guitar solos and for those who forgot what rock'n'roll sounds like, this is a great reminder. This is Deathsquad Demongods first recorded disc -- you can find some other music on You Tube but if you want something that will wake the neighbors then I suggest you download their disc and crank it loud.

The first song is entitled "Deathsquad Demongods" and it kicks off the EP with a bang. You'll be singing the chorus in the shower, at work and while you're standing in line to pay that speeding ticket you got from driving too fast while playing this disc. If you want to venture past the band you can hear Stevie talk to some real rockers about music and how it really is the stuff your mother warned you about on his podcast.

Deathsquad Demongods: Stevie Peavey – Vocals; Guitar; Calvin Ellis - Lead Guitar; Chris Mancini – Bass; Sid Johnson – Drums.
