DEATHKILLER

"New England is Sinking" (I Scream; 2007)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

For the tumultuous trio known as Deathkiller, their past musical lives (including stints with Hatebreed and Most Precious Blood) accentuate their current situation's present-day malaise with the degree of bone-crushing might and tough-guy posturing kept in check on the 12-track "New England is Sinking."

Commendably channeling aggression into shards of punk rock protest juiced up with East Coast hardcore heft, tracks like the acerbic "Call in the Airstrike" is almost too smart to mosh to, but the kids will probably do it anyway.

There's a slew of The Hope Conspiracy and H2O referenced here that reinforces the band's love of crunchy melody, making this disc a lasting dark punk rock excursion that you can still feel good about in the morning.
