DAVE GODDESS GROUP

"Something New" (Self-released; 2010)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

"Something New" is old school classic rock in the vein of Tom Petty which is interesting because vocalist/namesake Dave Goddess sounds a little like Petty ... with just a pinch of Bruce Springsteen mixed in.

The songs are solid rockers -- not really hard rock but more along the lines of the aforementioned Petty, the Rolling Stones or even perhaps Lynyrd Skynyrd. All are amazingly well-written and performed and they sound great due to outstanding production and a terrific mix by the legendary Ed Stasium (Ramones).

There isn't a bad song on the CD, even if it does sound a little same-y at times, but if you're a fan of classic rock, this might be the CD for you.
