CREOZOTH

"Creozoth" (New Media; 2005)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Creozoth is a new band from members of Candlemass Lars Johansson (guitar) and Jan Lindh (drums) alongside vocalist Michael Storck and bassist Tobbe Moen, and they have put together an incredible self-titled release. This powerful CD keeps you guessing right from the start and maintains the intense action throughout. The vocals remind me of early Jon Bon Jovi and the music of old Triumph and there's nothing wrong with that.

An Internet search for this band will give you some reviews of this CD and some history of the band, but you don't really get into the guts of the band; into what makes them tick. However, when you listen to "Creozoth," you find this is one talented band and one hard-driving project.

"Creozoth" kept me entertained for three or four straight spins and that, right there, is an accomplishment, since I listen to a lot of music for Rough Edge.

Creozoth's self-titled CD just missed making my Top Ten list of 2005 and that's no faint praise. Creozoth is simply magic and I heartily recommend it.
