COLISEUM

"No Salvation" (Relapse; 2007)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

Kentucky's hardest-working hardcore band returns with a vengeance with their latest 13-tracks of vitriolic volatility, as Coliseum's "No Salvation" pummels you from start to end.

Brimming over with disdain set to a non-stop background of caustic metal and crusty punk, Ryan Patterson and company's observations of the state of world's disarray is summed up with bitter lyrics and brutal batterings of bass and drums underneath an abrasive guitar and vocal onslaught on cuts like "Skyline Fucker," "Defeater," and the fist-pumping anthem "Fall of The Pigs."

Ladies and gentlemen, your 30-minute burst of aggression has arrived, courtesy of this rugged trio who never fail to deliver the goods.

"Goddamage" (Manic Ride; 2005)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

Merging punk, hardcore, and metal is commonplace these days, but no one told Kentucky's Coliseum, as the quartet's eight-song, 15-minute explosive EP destroys everything in its path with vitriolic conviction and true underground fervor.

Tracks like "Theme" and "Reborn to Hang" combine the wares of crusty punk, blistering metal, and fist-pumping hardcore into musical equivalents of Molotov cocktails, ready to detonate at any given time.
