CIPHER SYSTEM

"Central Tunnel 8" (Lifeforce; 2004)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Let's get the obvious bullshit out of the way first: The Crown will always be my favorite Swedish band, but pulling a close second now is Cipher System (The Crown has released three CDs, I've only heard this one from Cipher System so I need more releases from Cipher System in order to make a final decision.)

Cipher System's "Central Tunnel 8" is music that forces you to pay attention to what's going on. It's extremely hard and heavy but never boils over into pure, senseless noise. Cipher System uses high energy metal, played with an extremely edgy attitude.

Electronica plays a serious role here that makes it all the more interesting and unique. As it rocks from your CD player, you know you're hearing true metal greatness.

Cipher System is in your face metal with plenty of posture that left me sweating and wanting more.

Ciper System: Peter Engström - electronics; Henric Carlsson - bass; Daniel Schöldström- vocals; Pontus Andersson - drums; Magnus Öhlander - guitar, Johan Eskilsson - lead guitar.

Rating Guide:

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
