CHEAP SEX

"Headed for a Breakdown" (Punkcore; 2004)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

Cheap Sex is a street punk clan whose name is much more offensive than this, their 13-track offering. Laden with social commentary, "Headed for a Breakdown" is hard-nosed, fast paced, and full of angst, lashing out at the perils of American life (from the likes of "Reality TV" to "Raped By the FCC") with both a distinct bark -- thanks to the throat of Mikey Virus -- and vicious bite.

Featuring snarling guitars and a hearty vocal delivery, "Headed for a Breakdown" mixes the old school punk rock vibe with a touch of East Coast hardcore for a much-needed lesson in Punk Rock Sociology 101.
