CASSIUS
"I Am Jim Jones" (Lifeforce; 2007)
Reviewed by Snidermann
When metal is good, something magical happens. Cassius delivers a thunderous performance on "I Am Jim Jones" from the opening note right to the finishing one.
The music transports the listeners with boisterous music that virtually explodes from the speakers with nearly enough energy to light a big city.
The vocals, however, are another thing all together. I had a lot of trouble understanding what was being said and, instead, was treated to one big screaming fit that didn't change very much from one song to the next.
If this review was based solely on the music, "I am Jim Jones" would rate a much higher score. With the difficult vocals considered, the lose a half guitarsaw or so. Note to potential listeners: Give this a shot. The awesome music offsets the harsh vocals considerably.
