THE BRONX
"The Bronx" (Island Records; 2006)

Los Angeles quartet The Bronx have ascended from the underground, making their second self-titled CD a gritty, uncompromisingly raw punk album. How the hell did they pull it off? By being real, not bucking to trends, and writing great songs, that's how.
Tracks like "Around the Horn," "White Guilt" and "Dirty Leaves" are short, catchy, and above all, honest tunes that radiate the old school punk aesthetic without the frills and bullshit you can buy at the mall.
If you dig dangerous rock'n'roll a la QOTSA meets AC/DC at a Stooges gig, then this one is a surefire winner.

"The Bronx" (Ferret Records; 2003)

With their name drawn from an infamously tough NYC borough and their record label called White Drugs, you can basically make your own conclusions as to what to expect from The Bronx. The only problem is that this Los Angeles quartet far surpass all expectations on their 10-track, self-titled powder keg.
Seethingly energetic, relentlessly belligerent, and massively volatile are just a few of the descriptions of this outfit's rock'n'roll excursion, with songs like "White Tar," "Heart Attack American" and "Notice of Eviction" leading the adrenaline-fueled chaotic charge.
Best of all, both the music, albeit supercharged, and the honestly bleak-outlooked lyrics are smart and catchy in a Foo Fighters meet Sick of It All at a Fugazi show way.
Produced in part by Gilby Clarke of Guns N'Roses fame, the Bronx's latest album may just be the most accessibly angry album out there right now, and it'd be a damn shame if you didn't check it out.
