BOBGOBLIN

"Love Lost for Blood Lust" (Self-produced; 2016)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Bobgoblin's "Love Lost for Blood Lust" is an interesting blend of The Knack and "Gates of Steel"-era Devo. It's a bizarre combination, especially since you're here at RoughEdge.com reading about The Knack and Devo, but it works pretty well.

The band has a feisty, bouncy sound with some solid guitar work throughout. There's not a whole lot of leads and riffs like that but there is some pretty strong songwriting, excellent production and music that is energetic. Intelligent, heartfelt lyrics, as well.

If you're looking for heavy, you need to look somewhere else. This is alt-rock, this isn't Black Sabbath, but that's okay. Bobgolbin's CD entertains throughout and sometimes that's all you need.

By the way, there's some kind of weird history about this CD. I did a little research on the web and this album shows up many places with a release date of 2012. It's difficult to find on amazon.com but there are several listings for it, one of which is priced at $375.00! I'm not sure what the full story here is but the bottom line is, be very cautious where you purchase this. It's available at the band's official website, at this moment, for $9.99.
